may our communication with one another be sangha
This is an open, informal and unofficial social network welcoming all who attend the London Buddhist Centre
February 11, 2012 from 7:30pm to 11pm – London Buddhist Arts Centre
Ever wondered who actually runs the LBC?
Well, its folks like you and me! Giving their time, energy, skills and experience. Sharing what's important - the Dharma - and doing whatever helps keep the Centre vibrant, welcoming, and offering the Dharma to the world.
It's an organic thing, and keeps growing.
Fancy helping out? Curious to find out some of the different ways you could? This Saturday, 28th January, is a day for anyone interested in finding out how they might join the volunteer community at the LBC.
Drop in, check it out, come for lunch, hear others speak about what they do and why, explore the Dharma of giving.
And we will feed you! There's no charge for the day but please book so we know how many are coming for lunch.
Hope to see you there

If you're in London, do you fancy joining an already successful altruistic project that not many people at the London Buddhist Centre know about? It's the Globe Community Project and we're looking for a few more folk to get involved or at least know what we're up to!
We're a registered charity and company set up by a bunch of LBC Buddhists in 2003 and share an office with the Arts Centre team at Eastbourne House. Have a look at our website: http://www.globecommunityproject.org where there are some good pictures too...
Our mission is to run projects that benefit local people in Globe Town and Tower Hamlets generally. These activities often have a health, arts and/or community cohesion focus, eg Open Circle storytelling workshops for women from different faith and ethnic backgrounds. We run an ongoing weekly advice service for Bangladeshi residents. We've just sent off a funding application for another one of our…

Our first Nature Connection Walk in the seasonal cycle is a 7-mile walk and will take place on Sunday 16 October in beautiful Kent. The circular walk will start and finish in Otford. Meeting Point: London Bridge Station at the ticket office at 9.30 am, the train leaves at 9.46am.
Lunch: Bring a packed lunch, some snacks and plenty of water.
Cost: £15 if booked in advance, £20 on…

Words are the least effective way we have of communicating (Sangharakshita) so I'll be posting various visual communications which inspire and elevate me - or simply evoke a shade of being. There are already 3 on my page - with comments. I can actually verbalise too, after a fashion, so will be communicating and responding in type where required!
Be well - David

It's as good a place to start as any isn't it? Hello my name is David. The O, by the way, signifies part of my role on the LBC team. I designed it for an Open Day poster. It's good to be here. Ed's creativity is very magnetic as is the man himself as I'm sure you know. This is a garden of delight. So this week is the Urban Retreat and apart from designing the publicity for it I've been involved making porridge for the morning meditators. Providing sustainance to the brave dharma warriors. It's a good start to the day, being appreciated by people at 8am. I've been busy adding friends so I look forward to your comments, may they be sangha...in the coming days and weeks.

This week a stream of content is flowing from the Urban Retreat through URBANRETREAT.LBC.ORG.UK to email, sms, TheBuddhistCentre.com/urbanretreat, Facebook.com/LondonBuddhistCentre, Twitter.com/LondonBuddhist and wherever else you want to share with the Sangha.

Dear All
My colleague Adrian and I are running a nature connection workshop on 18 Sept and thought you or friends of yours may be interested. Please find the workshop details below.
The pace of everyday lives can all too easily cut us off from the revitalising energy of nature. This workshop will give you the opportunity to explore your connection to nature through your senses.
During the workshop you will learn to open your senses, attune with the invigorating energy of spring and early summer and come to a deeper sense of connection with nature. We will teach you simple but powerful ways to enhance your sensory awareness and share creative exercises that can catalyse personal change.
Nature is where we come from, and it’s where we are most at ease. Taking time out from our ever increasingly…

An ideal opportunity for the sangha to find out what we're up to! Come along this Saturday, 16 July, to Museum Gardens, where Bethnal Green Transition will have a stall at the Praxis New Voices Festival. Drop by any time from 12 - 6.30pm. We will be running some re-skilling workshops during the afternoon, and hopefully we will have some lemon balm plants for you to take away, and lemon balm tea to drink! Current projects include a new community food-growing garden, draught-busting workshops, re-skilling workshops and film shows. See you there! Posted by Kalyanavaca on July 12, 2011 at 3:00pm
