I thought some of you might be interested in this link to English Heritage who are writing about 'how various traditions and lineages have adapted to the British social and cultural context, … through the buildings that Buddhist communities build and use'.

I am not going to go to the International retreat beginning this friday 23rd May and going to Tuesday 27th may. I have a ticket, a single room (but if you had a freind who wanted to go and share the room, they could buy a ticket and do so as it has 2 beds in it) and a single ticket to Colwall leaving Paddington on Fri morning. If you would like to go in my place and pay the LBC for the ticket please contact me on firstname.lastname@example.org or on 07931 461 553

I help run the bookshop with Vajrabhandu, and thought I'd let all receptionists know that there are some new cushions an d mats for sale. They have price list on the bookshelf next to the Sangharaksita section.
There are still some of the smaller 'old' cushions for sale but they are individually priced. I've removed the old price labels from the shelves.
There is an amazing account on twitter,https://twitter.com/BuddhistGirl. It hasn't been updated in over a year but the tweets are incredibly mettaful. Here are some examples:
Always, this prayer is somewhere in my heart: May you be happy, healthy, and move through this next moment with grace and ease.
invites us to send lovingkindness to the next person we see: May they be happy, know peace, find freedom,…Continue

If you're in London, do you fancy joining an already successful altruistic project that not many people at the London Buddhist Centre know about?
It's called the Globe Community Project and is a registered charity and company set up by a bunch of LBC Buddhists in 2003. We share an office with the Arts Centre team at Eastbourne House. We run employability skills courses for local women, storytelling for community cohesion and a Bengali advice service. Have a look at our website:…Continue

The Globe Community Food Garden (just around the corner from the LBC) is looking for gardeners (or budding gardeners!) to help with the work and share in the produce of their new community food garden. At the moment not much is needing doing, but if you are interested to help when the spring comes, please get in touch with:

My delightful double room in my peaceful flat is going to be available from 5th February (for 4-12 months). I'm looking for someone, ideally from the Sangha, to move in with my lovely flatmate Lydia. (More details about Lydia below). We’re looking for a male or female that's considerate, open minded and warm to Buddhism.
The flat is on a quiet road within a few minutes walk of two beautiful parks. The flat is modern, clean and airy with an open plan living room,…Continue

I'm writing this note to try and attract a few members to this newly planned GFR group. Myself and Henry recently met up to discuss how we can take on our GFR commitment whilst being engaged dads.
We had both found that due to the demands of parenting, a regularly scheduled GFR group commitment has been a real challenge. Nevertheless, deepening our going for refuge remains a priority and we see that being a parent is a great opportunity to learn and evolve. …Continue

The LBC is about to launch 'Open Mind' - a new after school club on Tuesdays from 4.30 - 5.30, starting on Tuesday 2 October.
It's for young people aged 11 – 16 years old and is for those who want to try or practise meditation and mindfulness and/or find out more about Buddhism.
PLEASE PASS THIS ON TO ANYONE IN THIS AGE GROUP WHO YOU THINK MIGHT BE INTERESTED.
I'm currently looking for two new flat mates to join me at my lovely home in Homerton (E9). If you or someone you know is looking for somewhere in the area then please inbox me. The double room is £450 pcm and the single is £400 pcm.
I'm 29, very easy to get along with and quite clean and tidy. I work in the arts as an actor and youth arts practitioner. Generally looking like minded people to create a friendly home.
I am hoping to go to the Buddhafield festival from 11th-15th July 2012 and was just wondering if anyone else is planning on going and might be driving down from London? If so, I would love to share transport!!

He gives what is beautiful,
hard to give,
does what is hard to do,
His secrets he tells you,
your secrets he keeps.
When misfortunes strike,
he doesn't abandon you;
when you're down & out,
doesn't look down on you.
