Exhibition

Hi I have been given a generous gift of a wall  space in Cafe Villa D'aversa Broadway Market to exhibit my work, this means that I have an on-going exhibition.

Come and see the art and support the business with coffee or tea.

Whatever Happened to Harold Absalon?

I've had some exciting news in the last few days: the novel that I have been writing for the past seven years has been accepted for publication by Salt, an independent publisher based in Norfolk. This is what commissioning editor Nicholas Royle said about it: "I love your novel and want very much to…

Mitra Sutra (Mitta Sutta)...A Friend...

*

He gives what is beautiful,

           hard to give,

does what is hard to do,

endures painful,

           ill-spoken words.

His secrets he tells you,

           your secrets he keeps.

When misfortunes strike,

           he doesn't abandon you;

when you're down & out,

           doesn't look down on you.

* This is a translation of the Mitta Sutta which i particularly like and feel inspired to share and make more…

The Power of Giving: Saturday 28th Jan

Ever wondered who actually runs the LBC?

Well, its folks like you and me!  Giving their time, energy, skills and experience. Sharing what's important - the Dharma - and doing whatever helps keep the Centre vibrant, welcoming, and offering the Dharma to the world.

It's an organic thing, and keeps growing.

Fancy helping out? Curious to find out some of the different ways you could? This Saturday, 28th January, is a day for anyone interested in finding out how they might…

Globe Community Project

We're a registered charity and company set up by a bunch of LBC Buddhists in 2003 and share an office with the Arts Centre team at Eastbourne House. Have a look at our website: …

Only Connect

Words are the least effective way we have of communicating (Sangharakshita) so I'll be posting various visual communications which inspire and elevate me - or simply evoke a shade of being. There are already 3 on my page - with comments. I can actually verbalise too, after a fashion, so will be communicating and…

Hello

It's as good a place to start as any isn't it? Hello my name is David. The O, by the way, signifies part of my role on the LBC team. I designed it for an Open Day poster. It's good to be here. Ed's creativity is very magnetic as is the man himself as I'm sure you know. This is a garden of delight. So this week is the Urban Retreat and apart from designing the publicity for it I've been involved making porridge for the morning meditators. Providing sustainance to the brave dharma warriors.…

ism and aboutism

A little while back after a meditation on this beach in Sardinia I was talking with a friend with a somewhat humorous tone about meditation in terms of ism and aboutism. Ism is the type of subtle thought which is directly connected with what is actually happening right now and aboutism is the mental chatter that  is… Continue

Urban Food Growing Garden

Bethnal Green Transition (initiated by myself and Akashadevi over a year ago!) is in the midst of setting up a food-growing garden on a piece of green in the midst of a local estate - just beside Westbrook House. If you live on the estate, or nearby, and would like to get involved, please contact either myself, or Shraddhapushpa at susypowlesland@gmail.com  If it's to happen, we need lots of people to help!
